Host A Bike To Work Day Winnipeg Bike Pit Stop

Bike to Work Day is back and this year it’s going to be bigger than ever!

Bike to Work Day is an initiative of the City of Winnipeg and Bike to the Future. It was created by a group of avid cyclists to raise awareness of issues surrounding cycling in the city. It promotes cycling as an alternative type of commuting which benefits not only the rider but also the community by reducing pollution and traffic congestions. This year Bike to Work Day also aims to celebrate new bike-friendly infrastructure in Winnipeg by spreading the word and inviting new commuters to join in with the event! Similar events held in cities across Canada and the United States see thousands of people out on their bikes for one exciting day, or week, or month a year. Last year nearly 2000 cyclists were counted riding to work on the event day. With your support we are expecting even more this year.

Each year riders from all over the city congregate at “Bike Pit Stops”, areas where refreshments, t-shirts and prizes are handed out early in the morning. In previous years we have had 5 central Pit Stops, but this year to celebrate the new infrastructure and expand our event across the city we are hoping to triple this number! We invite you to join us in this initiative. Your location has been pegged as a busy commuter path, cyclers value your organization and ongoing commitment to the cycling community and we hope that you will help welcome Bike to Workers by partnering with us.

What you do: Support active transportation and celebrate cycling culture!

Donate your space or help secure a spot (for example: a parking lot, building exterior or bike path)

Volunteer (your staff is encouraged to join our volunteers on event day June 24th 7-9am to help run the Pit Stop, handing out swag, offering bike mechanical support, helping to set up, cheering bikers on, registering riders etc.)

Advertise (let your community know by displaying our posters, linking to our website and encouraging staff, friends and neighbours to participate)

Add your flare! (make your Pit Stop unique! Bring in your own food, musicians, activities, prizes, cycling parafanelia... the sky is the limit!)

What we do for you

Drop off advertising (2 posters prior to the event and 1 banner the day of)

Promote (your Pit Stop and organization on our website and online maps)

Drop off snacks, drinks, prizes and t-shirts (muffins, coffee and swag)

Provide Volunteers (if you need additional support we will assign BtWD volunteers to your Pit Stop)
