Countdown to Bike to Work Day

The 4th annual Bike to Work Day Winnipeg will be held on Friday, June 24th, 2011. Last year’s event saw 2000 commuters get on their bikes and ride to promote active trans- portation and highlight the vibrant Winnipeg cycling community.

This year, Bike to Work Day will celebrate the city’s new bike-friendly infrastructure and invites all Winnipeggers to join us either by riding on event day or by taking part in our Countdown to Bike to Work Day.

From June 10th-24th all Winnipeg cycling, cultural and service industries/communities are encouraged to help us in getting ready by hosting cycling themed events, services or discounts for cyclists at your workplace. Show your support for a green and bikeable community and have your contribution advertised to thousands of Bike to Work Day Riders!

For example: You could curate a cycling themed art-exhibit or film, add a bike valet to your event, offer a cycling safety course, do a bike-tune-up marathon, you could make smoothies in a bike-powered blender, you could offer discounts for those who cycle to your restaurant or store. The sky is the limit! All you have to do is come up with the idea and let us know and we will promote it on our websites(www.biketoworkdaywinnipeg.org, facebook and twitter)
